No one was seriously injured Tuesday in a single-vehicle wreck on Cokesbury Road.

No one was seriously injured in a wreck Tuesday afternoon that caused a car to overturn.

The cause of the wreck: a squirrel.

Sarah Jonda, 18, of Ninety Six, said she was driving a 2004 Ford Escape north on Cokesbury Road shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday when she swerved to avoid a squirrel in the road, causing her to lose control and drive off the road near the intersection of Partridge Road and Cokesbury Road.

Jonda reported some mild chest pain but said she felt fine otherwise and was examined by EMS.

“I don’t like squirrels anymore,” Jonda said.

Responding to the wreck were state Highway Patrol troopers, Greenwood County deputies, Greenwood County EMS and Northside Fire and Rescue.
