An Edgefield man is facing a domestic violence charge after a woman called Greenwood police to report being struck, according to a report.

Marquise Raphael Lomax, 28, of 1290 Long Cane Road, Edgefield was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree domestic violence.

On Nov. 6, Greenwood police were called out to investigate a fight between a man and woman at a Grier Street residence. Once there, officers spoke with a woman who said a man got angry at her after she asked him to clean up a mess and not to smoke indoors, and he struck her on the back of her head, the report said.

When she called law enforcement to report him hitting her, the man took her phone and ran from the residence, the report said. Police noted that children were in the residence when the fight happened, and officers were unable to find the man that night.
