A shooting early Sunday morning in Calhoun Falls left one dead.

Zelrvic Jaquain Tinch, 27, of 110 Kennedy St., Calhoun Falls, died outside of his home at 2:35 a.m. from a single gunshot to the abdomen, according to a release from the Abbeville County Coroner’s Office.

His death is being investigated as a homicide, the release said.

Abbeville County dispatch received reports at 1:27 a.m. of a gunshot victim in Calhoun Falls and Abbeville County deputies, Calhoun Falls Police Chief Arnie Fisher, EMS and the coroner’s office responded to the scene, the release said.

The State Law Enforcement Division will continue the investigation, Fisher said.

There will be a candlelight vigil for Tinch at 6:30 p.m. at 110 Kennedy St., according to a Facebook post from Abbeville City Councilman Chris Crawford. An autopsy will be performed at Anderson Area Medical Center on Tuesday, the release said.
