The Saluda girls tennis team suffered its first loss of the season Thursday against Mid-Carolina.

In doubles, Abby Gentry and Sarah Shore pulled out the lone win for the Tigers.

Saluda is home for matches next week against Pelion on Tuesday and Whitmire on Thursday.

Adair Still and Abigail Green defeated Alexis Broderick and Ava Eads in doubles for the Eagles’ lone win.

VARSITY VOLLEYBALLEasley 3, Greenwood 0Greenwood’s varsity volleyball team lost to Easley, 25-17, 25-13, 25-17. Emily Venable had seven kills and 10 digs. Katie Smith had five digs.

MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALLBrewer 20, McCormick 6Brewer defeated McCormick on the road 20-6. Kaleb Burton scored on runs of 40, 10 and 15 yards. Shamar Farrow added a 2-point conversion for the Bulldogs. Brewer plays Wright Middle School next Thursday.

Edgewood 22, Sanders 14Edgewood Middle School defeated Sanders Middle School. Danterious Randell scored on a 50-yard touchdown run and added a 2-yard score later in the game. Briant Witherspoon had a 45-yard touchdown run.

Evan Adams threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Trace Jones and completed a two-point conversion to Brayden Mitchell.

P.J. Rushton and Ryan Jones each had fumble recoveries. Ladarion Waldrop added an interpection. Edgewood is 1-0 on the season.

Westview 14, Merriwether 0Westview Middle School defeated Merriwether Middle School at home.

In the fourth quarter, Dontravis Jackson scored on a 40-yard strip fumble. Jackson also scored on a 2-point conversion. Jackson later scored on a 45-yard run. The 2-point conversion failed.

Westview next plays Edgewood.
