Angie Palmer, on behalf of the Allen Coursey Memorial Golf Tournament, honored a pair of Lakelands golfers Tuesday with two scholarships.

Ninety Six golfer James May and Emerald golfer Anna Parramore received scholarships to help further their education.

Palmer said both golfers "lead by example, while having the passion and drive for the game of golf."

The memorial tournament will take place on July 29 at the Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor. The event will be open to an estimated 40 teams, with double shotgun times in the morning and afternoon.

Tournament proceeds have been established to help the Ninety Six golf team as well as the Piedmont Junior Golf Association, which is led by Tommy Pendley.

Palmer added her brother, Allen Coursey, was a strong believer in youth golf.

May wrapped up his season at Ninety Six earlier this month and will play at Limestone, and Parramore signed her letter of intent to play at Erskine.
