The Lander Bearcats’ baseball team has 17 players headed out on summer assignments in preparation for the 2020 season, head coach Jason Burke announced on Wednesday.

Lander has five players tabbed to compete in the Coastal Plain League. Marshall Thompson will suit up for the Savannah Bananas, Josh Gregory and Ryan Flores will play with the Lexington County Blowfish, and Nathan Schreckengost and Roury Glanton are with the Macon Bacon.

Bryce Jackson and Zeke Stephens are beginning the summer by training with at the Florida Baseball Ranch.

The Bearcats will send three players to the Southern Collegiate Baseball League as Drew Luckey and Jordan Gibert will spend the summer with the Concord A’s, while Nick Foray is pitching for the Carolina Vipers.

Three Bearcats are playing in the Florida Collegiate Summer League.

Carson Schlegel and Zach Pellegrino joined the Winter Garden Squeeze with Davis Cunningham playing for the Leesville Lightning.

Bo Richey is participating in the ProX League, while Conner Campbell is spending the summer with the Mankato Moondogs of the Northwoods League.

Evan Harold is playing for the Watertown Rapids in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League and Landon Dupert rounds out the players on assignment for the summer, playing for the Rawlings Stars of the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Baseball League.
