MCCORMICK — Mr. James Monroe Walker, passed away Feb. 11, 2019 at Self Regional Hospital, Greenwood, SC. He was the son of the late JP and Alice Wardlaw Walker. He was a graduate of McCormick High School, a U.S. Army Veteran, he retired from the NFTA Buffalo New York Transit System as a Train Operator. He recently moved back to McCormick County after spending numerous years in Buffalo, NY, and joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he was Deacon, a member of the Male and Sanctuary Choir and the Men of the House. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mrs. Leilah Belle Anderson Walker, Children: Temecula Walker, Christine Walker (Rene) Valaquez, Corey Walker, I and Christopher Wideman. Sisters: Martha B. Martin, Ella (William) Singletary and brother, Ret. Sgt. Roosevelt Walker, and a host of other relatives and friends. Services are Monday, February 18, 2019 2:00pm at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Carter, Buffalo, NY as Eulogist and Rev. Michael Butler, Officating. Interment in Church Cemetery.
