Gloria Wilkie Rush, 80, wife of Robert Wayne Rush passed away June 5, 2019 in West Columbia.
Born on July 6, 1938 in Plum Branch to the late William Augustus and Viola Elizabeth Deason Wilkie, Sr. She is a 1955 graduate of McCormick High School and a 1958 graduate of Columbia Hospital School of Nursing where she accepted Christ as her Savior and received her nursing degree. Gloria worked at Columbia Hospital as a labor and delivery nurse and then transferred to Richland Memorial Hospital. She later became a claims reviewer for Blue Cross/ Blue Shield.
Gloria loved shopping, thrifting and antiquing, playing bingo, getting dressed up, collecting frogs and coins and caring for people who needed care. She mostly loved spending time with her family, especially the love of her life, Wayne.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are her daughter, Crystal Gay Haugen and husband Scott of Portland, OR, her son, Joel Craig Rush and wife Tracy of Irmo, SC; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Anne Ray and husband Pat and Betty Sue Wilkie, both of McCormick; brother, W.A. “Butch” Wilkie and wife Rhonda of Plum Branch.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Tina Lorraine Grant, a sister, Billie Jane Deal and a brother, Robert Blaine “Bull” Wilkie.
Graveside services will be conducted 11AM Monday, June 10 at Troy Cemetery with Pastor Kale Rush officiating.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 9 — 10 AM.
