DURHAM, NC. — Ethel Marie McBride Berksteiner, 58, of, 105 Finsbury Drive, Durham, NC, passed away on June 3, 2019 at the VA Medical Center in Durham, NC. Ethel was a US Army Veteran, a Certified Nursing Assistant and a Habilitation Technician. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1979, from Lander College in 1984, and from Colorado Tech with a Master’s Degree. She was also formerly employed at Matthews Mills, as a Deputy Sherriff in Arizona and a Corrections Officer at Central Prison in Raleigh, NC.

Ethel was born December 9, 1960 in Greenwood, SC, to the parents of the late Alonzo McBride and the late Annie Belle Goode McBride. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters Dorothy (Raymond) Williams and Eula Belle McBride, and one brother Alonzo McBride Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories one sister, Joann (Apostle William) Smith of Easley, SC; one brother Kenneth (Pearl) Goode of Greenwood, SC; two uncles Samuel McBride of Chicago, IL and William (Martha) Harkness of Abbeville, SC; one aunt Geraldine Sizemore of Evanston, IL; five nieces, Bridgett Williams, Autumn Carroll, and Nicole Pace, all of Greenwood, SC, Twila Monique Williams of Augusta, GA, and Danielle Williams of Newark, NJ; ten nephews, Raymond Eric (Mary) Williams, Keith Williams, Zack (Shan) Rappley, Kareem (Toni) Goode, Kenneth Goode, Stanley Jones, and Vincent Jones all of Greenwood, SC, Shawn Carroll of Ware Shoals, SC, James Benjamin of Newark, NJ, and Terrance Stevenson of Saluda, SC; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, a special great-nephew Dayshawn Rollinson of Greenwood, SC, great-great-nieces, great-great nephews, cousins, an adopted sister Ruby (Billy) Hill of Greenwood, SC, and friends to celebrate her life.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Faith Christian Center, conducted by Apostle William K. Smith. The family is at the home of a niece, Autumn Carroll, 111 A.
