Emma Allen

Mrs. Emma Louise Hammett Allen passed away peacefully on Friday, August 30, 2019. She was 92.

Born on August 28, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Pearl Wright Hammett and Horace Hammett. She was born in Spartanburg County and lived most of her earlier years in Woodruff, Greenwood and Ware Shoals, SC, but spent some years in Jacksonville, FL, where she lived for the last 20 years or so.

She is survived by three sons, Jimmy Lewis Allen (Dorothy), Jerry Lee Allen and Danny Dee Allen (Kathy) all of Greenwood, and one daughter, Kathy Louise Allen Faulkner (Ronnie) of Jacksonville FL.

Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Ronnie and Randy Allen of Ware Shoals; Shannon Allen Cockrell (Chris), Jennifer Allen (Paige), Jeremy Allen (Tara), Parker Allen, Shane Allen and Danny Lee, all of Greenwood; and Ronnie, II and Neil Faulkner of Jacksonville, FL. She had 12 great-grandchildren: Tristan, Raina, Dustin, Malory, Evan, Daniel, Jolene, Jayce, Danny, Kerra, Victoria and Brooke.

Louise received a Citizen of the Year award for her involvement in the community, as well as other accolades. She also received awards in Jacksonville for her leadership and activities in her senior complex where she resided. She was a Christian woman of the Baptist faith. She will be remembered for her generosity and her caring nature and oh what a sense of humor!

The family will receive friends on September 13 at Harley Family Center from 6-9 p.m. Rev. Shirley Surrett will deliver eulogy and blessings and provide music.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice in Jacksonville, FL, in her memory.
