Camilla Whatley

Camilla Kay Wood Whatley, 63, resident of Charles Road, widow of William “Billy” Whatley, entered into rest on November 13, 2019 at Self Regional Health Care.

Born on July 31, 1956 in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late James Wesley and Sara Eldora Nelson Wood. Camilla was a graduate of Greenwood High School and began her career in vital records with Self Memorial Hospital. Later on, her office moved to Greenwood DHEC, where she eventually retired after 38 years of service. Camilla will be remembered by the love she shared for her adored family and loud cheers for her favorite football teams including the Greenwood High Eagles and Carolina Panthers.

Survivors include her longtime companion, Harold “Hal” Robinson of the home, two sons, Travis (Katie) Whatley of Ninety Six, SC and Nick (Jessica) Whatley of Abbeville, SC. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Allyson Whatley, an aunt, Lula Wood of Saluda, SC, cousins, Phyllis Jones, Diane Tyler, Terri Martin, Chris Jones and Demos Jones, all of Florida, Phillip (Cornelia) Nelson of Georgia, Lena Warren of Saluda, SC, and a special friend, Brenda Millender of Greenwood.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her step-father, Prince Alton Sappington.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ninety Six, with Rev. Valerie Mireb and Rev. Jonathan Payne officiating. A private burial will follow at Oakbrook Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Hill, Joey Dorn, Jamie Bush and Andrew Robison.

The family will be at the home on 123 Frazier Rd, Ninety Six, SC 29666 and will receive friends in the church parlor from 9:30 until 11:00 on Saturday,
