Wanda Aiken Thomas, 51, of 25 W. Main St., Ware Shoals was arrested Monday and charged with trafficking illegal drugs, a miscellaneous offense and theft of controlled substance, first offense.
On May 31, a Ware Shoals police officer spoke with a Simpsonville hospice employee who said a resident of the Ware Shoals Manor had complained about not getting her prescribed medication, according to a report.
Someone had complained about this to the woman with the key to the manor’s medication for residents, the report said, and requested to meet with her at the manor to count the resident’s medications. The woman said the key was with her car, which she loaned to someone temporarily, but when the key hadn’t been returned in nearly four hours, the person who wanted to count the medication left, the report said.
Days later, that person returned to the manor to check on the medication again and was told they still didn’t have the key available, but they were told the patient who reported not receiving their medication had no pills left. Another employee told the person the woman with the key had been taking the resident’s pills and selling them, the report said.
