Before being arrested, a man walked up to a woman who had lost her debit card and gave the card back to her, along with $20 in cash and his business card, offering her a free car wash, according to a report.
That didn’t stop her from pressing charges.
Robert Earl Dorn, 55, of 107 Jacob St., Greenwood was arrested Sunday and charged with financial transaction card fraud and financial transaction card theft.
On Sunday, a Greenwood County deputy went to the Dollar General at 2518 Highway 25 S., where a woman who had been shopping for school supplies said she lost her debit card, the report said. With help from the manager, the woman reviewed surveillance video and saw that a man had used her card while she was still browsing in the store.
The woman went outside to call 911, which is when the man approached her to give back her card, $20 in cash and a business card to a local automotive shop, telling her she could come by for a free car wash, the report said. Officers were able to identify the man using the surveillance video and the picture on the business card.
