A Greenwood man stole a $9,000 car, and when he was arrested, was also in possession of methamphetamine, police said.

Jeremy Paul Barton, 38, of 112 Snyder Road, Greenwood, is facing charges of grand larceny greater than $2,000 and possession of methamphetamine.

Just before 3 a.m. Sunday, police were called to a Brooks Stuart Drive apartment complex, where they were told a 2005 Toyota Camry was taken.

A short time later, police saw a vehicle matching its description in the parking lot of a nearby restaurant and bar and a man leaning on its driver’s side door.

After being arrested and charged with grand larceny, authorities reported finding a small plastic containing a white crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine in the vehicle’s center console.
