A Greenwood man out on bond on charges he shot into a home last week is now facing allegations he assaulted a police officer.
Codey Anderson Land, 19, of 305 Klugh St., was arrested Saturday night on one count each of failure to stop on lawful command, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest with assault on a police officer.
The episode began at about 8 p.m. when police arrived at the Klugh Street home and were told a man was confronting neighbors who he thought stole a piece of lawn equipment from his vehicle.
After police told the man to remain where he was, he continued to walk back toward his residence, which led officers to follow and detain him. Once handcuffed, he began to struggle with officers and head-butted one of them above his right eye, authorities said.
He then fled on foot while handcuffed, leading to brief chase before he again detained at Taser-point. The officer visited Self Regional Medical Center for evaluation, but doctors said no medical assistance was required.
Land posted a $25,000 bond on Sept. 14, the same day he was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm into a dwelling.
