Authorities say a man was impaired when his vehicle struck a motorcycle Saturday in Laurens, killing its two riders.

Jose Reyes-Cruz, 35, of 528 Church St., Laurens was charged with two counts of felony driving under the influence resulting in death and one count of driving without a license.

He’s being held without bond at the Laurens County jail.

Laurens police said in a release that the man was impaired when his 2009 Honda struck a motorcycle on Church Street just before 9 p.m. Saturday.

April Hughes Lewis, 49, and Tony Rudean Hall, 53, both of Waterloo, were ejected from a motorcycle and died at area hospitals. Police did not specify what substance they think Cruz had used ahead of the wreck. An incident report was not available for release.
