A Greenwood man is behind bars after police said he shot into a Gum Avenue dwelling earlier this week.
Telvin Deshawn Nicholson, 24, of Greenwood, was arrested by detectives on Thursday and charged with discharging a firearm into a dwelling.
When police arrived at the scene Sunday night on Gum Avenue, a man told officers he was inside his house when he heard the gunshots, according to a report. Out his front window he said he saw two men crouching in the roadway in front of his house before they took off running toward Tarrant Street.
Officers found multiple spent shell casings in the roadway in front of the house, along with a phone on the pavement beside them. A nearby residence had several bullet holes in a window, and the front and side had been hit by gunfire, police noted. Officers made their way in through an unsecured window to check if anyone had been shot, but found no one inside.
The resident arrived moments later and told police he didn't know why anyone would want to shoot at him, the report said. He gave police access to surveillance videos of the house.
