The Laurens County chief magistrate died Friday afternoon following a “medical episode,” according to police.
Chief Magistrate Leesa Inabinet was driving on U.S. Highway 221 North at Chestnut Extension when the medical episode happened, according to Laurens Police Chief Chrissie Cofield. Inabinet pulled to the side of the road and lost consciousness before her vehicle rolled into a ditch.
No other vehicles were involved and Inabinet was taken to Laurens County Memorial Hospital where she died.
Her death is under investigation by the Laurens Police Department and Laurens County Coroner’s Office. A call made to the coroner’s office was not immediately returned.
