One person died in a wreck on a stretch of Interstate 26 in Laurens County Sunday afternoon.
The state Highway Patrol did not release the decedent’s name and the Laurens County coroner did not immediately return a call Sunday evening.
The decedent was driving a 2003 Ford F-250 and towing a camper 3 miles east of Joanna when it changed from the left to the right lane, according to master trooper Gary Miller of the Highway Patrol. A 2013 Buick SUV driven by a Florence woman also changed from the left to the right lane.
During the lane change, the vehicles “made contact” and went off the right side of the road, Miller said. The Ford overturned.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, and neither had any passengers.
The Ford’s driver died at the scene.
