Wreck 01

Greenwood police investigated a wreck Sunday night on the bypass where a motorcycle and SUV collided, while county deputies and state Highway Patrol troopers helped control traffic.

One man is in the hospital after a Sunday night wreck left his motorcycle in pieces on Bypass 72 NW.

The man had been driving his motorcycle west along the Bypass when, near its intersection with Destination Way beside Wendy’s, the driver of a white SUV crossed eastbound traffic turning left and the two vehicles collided, said Capt. Chris Morgan with the Greenwood Police Department.

The SUV driver was uninjured, but the man on the motorcycle was taken to Self Regional Medical Center for treatment, Morgan said. To the best of his knowledge, he said the man was responsive when EMS staff took him from the scene.

Morgan said that was all the information he could share at the scene as officers were still investigating the details of the collision.

Greenwood police, sheriff’s deputies and state Highway Patrol troopers helped control traffic along the Bypass, while troopers assisted police in investigating the scene of the wreck.
