A Georgia man was killed Sunday afternoon after a wreck on Interstate 26 near Joanna, Laurens County Chief Deputy Coroner Vickie Cheek said.
Douglas Michael Denton, 50, of Savannah, died at the scene just after 1:30 p.m. near mile marker 60.
Denton was driving a 2003 Ford F-250 and towing a camper when it changed from the left to the right lane, according to master trooper Gary Miller of the Highway Patrol. A 2013 Buick SUV driven by a Florence woman also changed from the left to the right lane.
During the lane change, the vehicles “made contact” and went off the right side of the road, Miller said. The Ford overturned. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, and neither had any passengers.
