An Abbeville woman died late Saturday after her vehicle struck a tree near Ware Shoals.

Davionica Brownlee, 32, of 111 Cambridge St., died at the scene as a result of her injuries, according to Laurens County Chief Deputy Coroner Vickie Cheek.

The wreck happened at 11:17 p.m. Saturday along Boyd's Mill Pond Road, about 5 miles north of Ware Shoals.

Brownlee was traveling south when her 1997 Toyota crossed the centerline, according to trooper Joe Hovis with the state Highway Patrol. She overcorrected and her Toyota ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree, Hovis said.

Brownlee, who was wearing a seat belt, was trapped and had to be extracted from the vehicle, Hovis said.
