A Greenwood woman died in a car wreck Wednesday afternoon in Laurens County.
The collision happened about 2:30 p.m. along S.C. Highway 56 about seven miles east of Cross Hill, according to reports from the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Laurens County Coroner's Office officials identified the fatality victim as Barbara Albrecht, 53, 130 Edinborough Circle, who died at the scene of blunt force trauma to the head and chest.
The woman was a passenger in a vehicle that a Charlotte man was driving at the time of the crash, Lance Cpl. Tony Keller said. The collision also involved a Mack truck driven by a 39-year-old Newberry man, Keller said.
Details about the crash were not available Friday. The man driving the pickup truck was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries he sustained in the wreck, according to officials.
