The spring lineup for Uptown Live — Greenwood’s free outdoor concert series — kicks off in a big way, with hours of music from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at Uptown Market.
It’s an evening full of music, all local:
– Jackson Station (rock with a bluegrass twist)
– Time to Live (husband and wife duo, plus band)
– Steven Galloway and The Vibe (jazz)
– The Mezz (progressive rock)
– Bad Weather States (Southern Americana rock)
Combined with the music are lots of live art demonstrations and more, including the making of balloon creations.
Laura Bachinski, owner of Main and Maxwell, a retail and gallery shop in Uptown Greenwood said “a whole bunch of live art demonstrations” will be happening at Uptown Market, by local artists who have pieces at Main and Maxwell.
Demonstrations include everything from wheel-thrown pottery to a make-and-take craft for older children and adults, offered free of charge.
Billed as a family-friendly event, Springfest has something for all ages.
Wendi Wimmer, media arts and theater specialist for Greenwood High School said several students will be making balloon creations, including swords, dogs, flowers, fish, parrots, butterflies and more.
