Sen. Lindsey Graham was surrounded by “Young Guys in Soldier Uniforms” at the “Salute to Veterans" event at the Veterans Center in Greenwood on Veterans Day. Brayden Gonce, Dylan Gonce and Colby Pope presented the Colors at the beginning of the patriotic event and led the audience in the Pledge to the American flag, followed by Dana McCravy who sang “The Star Spangled Banner.”
The three young “soldiers” later spoke with the senator. During the program, Graham told the audience, including a chorus of 60-plus students, about veterans from World War 1 up though the present time and of conflicts with other countries. The senator had the audience spellbound with his history lesson of wars and soldiers who volunteered or were drafted up to the present day. He continually gave credit to over 100 veterans and their families in the audience and elsewhere throughout his talk.
At the end of his presentation, he walked to each veteran present and gave them commemorative pins to honor them. Greenwood County is honored that Graham flew down from Washington on Veterans Day to recognize our veterans on their special day.
This special patriotic event was sponsored by the Greenwood County GOP.
