McCormick Garden Club hosts Christmas tour

Decorated staircase at the Dorn House.

As you begin your celebration of the holiday season, make sure you visit McCormick, and the town’s Holidays on Main offering of holiday activities for the whole family. In particular is the Christmas Tour of the Historic Dorn House decked out in full holiday finery by the Garden Club of McCormick that is a “must see” providing a unique experience to travel back in time to Christmases past and renew and refresh your spirit.

Come with your camera ready to see what the McCormick Garden Club decorating team has in store for all as they prepared and decorated the Dorn House with its French Huguenot 1800s period pieces for a second Christmas Tour this year. As you see from the pictures here, what a feat the club accomplished with last year’s tour that received a first place award for decoration of a historic building at the state level and a national award for the same, a first time ever for this local club.

Mark your calendar for Dec. 6, 7, 13 and 14 to visit this two story brick Colonial Revival style home built in 1917 that is on the National Historical Register and rarely open to the public and see how the team has splendidly decorated every room upstairs and down for this year’s tour! Hours for the tour are from noon-7 p.m. each of the four days.

And for those who love the fragrance of fresh evergreens the McCormick Garden Club will be selling fresh evergreen wreaths at the Dorn House Dec. 7-8 during the hours of the tour (no pre-orders). For $20 you will have a choice of a Frasier Fir wreath or a mixed evergreen wreath (some local greens) that is made on a 14 inch wire frame resulting in a 16 inch finished wreath. Bows will also be for sale for an additional $5.
