Greenwood student wins 2nd Runner Up

Second runner up winner, Ms. India Rice representing GLEAMNS, receives $150 prize from SCACAP executive director, Ms. Jessica McMoore.

Over 100 Community Action Youth, youth professionals, community leaders, mentors and business leaders came together for the 9th Annual Statewide Youth Leadership Oratorical Forum & Banquet which was held on Saturday, December 16 in Columbia. This event was hosted by the South Carolina Association of Community Action Partnerships, Inc. (SCACAP), where Ms. Jessica McMoore is the Executive Director.

The theme was “Speaking Out Loud”. The purpose of the banquet was to empower youth through strengthening their communicative and emotional skills, and increase self-confidence through public speaking.

Ms. India Rice is the 2017 9th Annual Statewide Youth Leadership Oratorical Forum 2nd Runner Up Winner representing GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission, Inc. Ms. Rice was the 2nd Runner Up winner out of nine contestants that participated in this year’s forum. India presented a very educational and inspiring speech on “IF”. Ms. India Rice the daughter of Larry Rice and Latoya Perrin. She is a sophomore at Greenwood High School. India is a member of the BETA Club, Junior Civitans, and cheerleading team at Greenwood High School. She has reached the accomplishment of being ranked in the top 10 of her class.

GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission, Inc. is one of fourteen Community Action Agencies in the State of South Carolina serving the counties of Greenwood, Laurens, Edgefield, Abbeville, McCormick, Saluda, and Newberry, where Ms. Shunna Vance is the Chief Executive Officer.
