Paige Bowser, an alumni of the Abbeville High School Band and owner of Breezy Quarters, has designed a fundraising program now going on to help raise monies to offset extra expense of the upcoming school year. Working together with Band Director Rena Rhodes and band students themselves, Paige has formulated and will offer six uniquely fragranced 100-hour candles in fragrances selected by the students themselves. These limited edition candles will only be available by purchase through the AHS Band Booster program or by ordering directly at BreezyQuarters.com/BandCandles.
The students chose six delicious fragrances: The Best Vanilla, Driftwood, Cinnamon Bun, Lavender Dreams, Ambrosia, and Laundry on the Line. All are featured online and in a flyer produced by Andy Johnson of AJ Designs, another Abbeville High School Band alumni who donated his services to the success of this program. Rhodes is very excited about this opportunity for band student to help raise funds and improve the program. “This is great! It’s something different in addition to the fruit sale and other regular fundraising efforts we do.” “It’s the least we can do,” notes Bowser. “High school band was a formative part of my young adult life. I’m a better person for it, and I want to help make sure the next generation has that same opportunity.” Johnston agreed. “There’s a huge value in a well-rounded high-school experience. Academics are always important, but there are aspects of character and teamwork that are best instilled through programs like the band.”
Funds will offset expenses related to attending athletic events like AHS Panther football games. The band also frequently travels to out-of-town competitions, in which the students showcase their program. Band students are currently taking orders for the candles through Sept. 13. After that time, these specially limited candles will no longer be available.
