The Ware Shoals and Dixie High School baseball teams have been here before.
The two Hornets squads will face off in a Region 1-A tiebreaker for its championship tonight at Emerald, an exact rematch from last year. Dixie won the 2013 matchup 15-1, thanks in large part to four Ware Shoals errors to win its first region title since 2007
Ware Shoals coach Troy Cole is hopeful that his team learned from that loss.

“I feel like the experience of being in there, playing in front of a large crowd last year helped them,” Cole said. “Last year, we were kind of like a deer in headlights. Half the kids had not played in a game that important before. Hopefully, a year later, we’ve got the experience and it’s not going to bother us as bad.”
The two teams split their two regular-season games this season. Visiting Ware Shoals struck first, beating Dixie on its  home field 6-1. Dixie got Ware Shoals back, though. Dixie overcame an early deficit to beat Ware Shoals 7-4 on what is now Lou Brissie Field.
