A source confirmed to the Index-Journal on Monday that Greenwood High School football coach Gene Cathcart is expected to be announced as the new football coach at Seneca at tonight's School District of Oconee County board of eductation meeting.
Cathcart did not respond to requests for comment Monday.
Chairman of the Greenwood School District 50 school board Shell Dula said Monday night he was unaware if Cathcart was going to Seneca, but did confirm he was informed late last week Cathcart had an offer from the school.
"I did talk with (District 50 superintendent) Darrell Johnson on Friday, I think it was, and he made me aware that coach Cathcart had been offered the position," Dula said. "I do know that he was offered the position, but I don't know what the results of that will be."
When asked to confirm if the position in question was the head coaching job at Seneca, Dula replied, 'That was my understanding."
