The South Carolina District 1 baseball team played its way into the Big League World Series United States championship game at 7:30 tonight in Easley, winning three of four games in pool play.
And the team has been led by three local products.


Emerald High School’s Sheldon Reed and Matthew Mulkey and Ninety Six’s Jacob Childress have been major contributors for the South Carolina team, who plays Southeast in tonight’s national title game for a chance to play in the World Series final against Puerto Rico or Venezuela on Wednesday.
“It’s been a good experience,” Childress said. “We’re getting to know some guys from around the area and getting to play against guys from all over the world. It’s just been good.”
