When the Lander University and Erskine College softball teams meet today at Doug Spears Field, Lander will have played four games in two days, while Erskine hasn't stepped on the field since last Tuesday.
But Erskine coach Aileen Hawkins doesn't think it's an advantage that her team has had time off before the matchup.
In fact, she's just hoping it won't be a hindrance.


"We're going to have to overcome not playing since last Tuesday, especially we didn't play well last Tuesday," said Hawkins, whose team lost a doubleheader to Francis Marion that day and is 9-15 on the season. "I would rather play any day than practice, especially this time of the year. This time of year, if you can't do it and don't know what to do, you're in big trouble.
