School board approves North Augusta coach to lead Eagles' football team

As football coach at North Augusta High School, Dan Pippin led the Yellow Jackets to three Class AAAA, Division II state semifinal appearances in the past four seasons.
So, of course, the only way to ramp up the pressure would be to take over a program that went to three state championship games in the same time frame and won one.
That's exactly what Pippin is about to do.
The Greenwood School District 50 board of education unanimously approved Pippin as the Eagles' new football coach and athletic director on Monday night. Abbeville coach Jamie Nickles and Brookland-Cayce coach Rusty Charpia were the other two finalists.
"It's a great honor," said Pippin, who went 70-33 at North Augusta in eight seasons, including a 56-10 record during the past three. "North Augusta is a very special place, and, to leave there, it would have had to be a place that I thought could be the same or even more special. Greenwood, I think, is that place.
