Jacob Stockman says the strongest part of his pitching repertoire varies by the day.
Some days, the Greenwood High School senior relies on his slider. Other days, it’s his curveball, or fastball.
But there’s one thing the Eagles can rely on every day, and that’s Stockman himself.
“He serves so many roles for us,” coach Joel Vaughn said. “He’s a very strong-minded kid, very detail-oriented. He’s usually one of the first guys to show up, and he’s always, always the last one to leave, whether he’s getting in some work on his arm or just checking behind his teammates to make sure everything is picked up.

“He’s just an excellent young man, like all of our guys.”
Stockman served the Eagles in a limited role a season ago, a stint highlighted by a home victory against Emerald.
All the while, he bode his time, waiting for his opportunity in an expanded role. That chance came this season, and Stockman has made the most of it.
