NINETY SIX — Three Abbeville High School wrestlers had a little extra motivation to win the individual Region 2-AA championship in their respective weight classes Saturday at Ninety Six High School.
And all three accomplished that feat.
Ben Glace beat a familiar foe, not once but twice, to win at 195 pounds. Austin Thompson finally earned a first-place medal at 182 pounds, and Austin Knox proved his coach wrong at 120 pounds, while also beating a familiar nemesis.

"It felt great, winning region anytime feels real good," Knox said. "Especially by pinfall against a kid that's had some great matches throughout the year."
At 195 pounds, Glace had just one other wrestler in his weight class and needed to beat him twice to claim the region title. And that other wrestler was Ninety Six's Bradley Weaghington who had beaten Glace two of three times earlier in the year, once by pin.
