Each of the last three seasons, Greenwood High School guard Yanna Jones had to find solace after a third-round playoff loss in the fact that there was always next year.
Except, this year, Jones is a senior.
That means there is no next year. For Jones and the Eagles, the time is now to win a state championship.
Greenwood, which is 18-6 on the year and earned another Region 1-AAAA championship, begins its postseason run Thursday night with a first-round home game against Byrnes.
For Jones, it's the beginning of her fourth and final shot at an elusive state title. Though she already earned plenty of individual recognition for herself in her career — earning multiple all-region nods and surpassing the career 1,000-point mark earlier this year — she's determined to close out her career by helping lead her teammates to a state crown.
