Questions newspaper's stance on guns, booze

It appears from some editorials, the Index-Journal is against concealed weapons permit holders being allowed to carry their weapon in restaurants that sell alcohol.
Although owners can prohibit weapons in the diner; one is only allowed to carry when eating. Problems normally arise by those who carry unlawfully while CWP holders obey the law and utterly carry for protection.
On the other hand, the paper seems to favor the sale of alcohol downtown, even on the sidewalks (Sundays included).
Does this encourage our college students to drink and what does this tell our children?
What is appalling is our churches have kept silent on this matter. Sadly, it now seems wrong is right and right is wrong.
