MOUNT PLEASANT -- Lydia McLean Wiggins MacLaughlin, 99, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, widow of Don Taylor MacLaughlin, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, July 16, 2014. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Lydia was born July 26, 1914 in Pickens, SC, daughter of Lemuel E. Wiggins and Sally McLean Wiggins. During WWII, she worked at the Bureau of Standards in Washington, DC. After she married, she taught math at Mt. Berry College in Rome, GA, and later retired from the Central Piedmont Community College Mathematics Department in Charlotte, NC.
She is survived by her daughter, Sally M. Olivier of Charleston, SC; son, R. Scott MacLaughlin (Linda) of Shippensburg, PA; sister, Elizabeth Wiggins McDonald of Hickory, NC; granddaughters, Gloria Olivier and Andrea Olivier; and great-grandchildren, Rickie, Alex, Camryn.
