I want to acknowledge and thank the 37-plus business sponsors and individual donors that participated in the Koats for Kids drive during the holiday season.
A special thanks to Kristi Rush and the employees of Rush Heating and Cooling and Allen Raines of Professional Automotive for coordinating this benefit.
This was a first for Healthy Learners to partner with local businesses to assure the children of our community were kept warm. The student support facilitators in District 50 assisted Healthy Learners to identify children in need while maintaining their confidentiality.
Thank you also to the Index-Journal and Bill Cranford, who did an awesome job of creating the ad highlighting the partnership with Healthy Learners. I hope it raised awareness of Healthy Learners in our community and will generate support  for our mission. After all, healthy children are better students and successful students create thriving
communities.
We live in a giving community that always rises to meet the needs of those less fortunate. I am grateful to be a part of this community.
I am blessed to be a part of Healthy Learners as we seek  to provide  access to basic health care for those children and families without resources. I am also thankful that  Healthy Learners was able to assist in assuring our children have warm  coats for the winter.
