The appalling fate of three dogs owned by a man named Mario Rouse is beyond comprehension. The dogs were found dead, left to rot on the ground, still chained at the neck and shackled either to trees or ground stakes.
This brutal action by a man toward innocent dogs reminds me of a 13th century poem by an anonymous poet, titled, "A Man of Kindness to his Beast is Kind". In it, the poet cautions that God, who created the animals and formed them unable to speak, watches over all of them. They can't complain, writes the poet. But their Creator hears their cries. And He will judge every person who abuses them.
