Tobie Rolley Holmes

EDGEFIELD — Mr. Tobie “TB” Rolley Holmes 101, of 22 Dorn Road, husband of Jeannette Werts Holmes, passed on Wednesday January 22, 2014 at Trinity Mission Rehabilitation in Edgefield , SC. He was born in Edgefield, SC, February 24, 1912, a son of William “Kit” Holmes and Lona Settles Holmes. He was a self employed farmer and retired from Greenwood School District #50. He attended Liberty Springs Baptist Church where he attended faithfully until his health failed.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Willie M Higgins-Holmes, by three daughters, Alberta H. Partlow, Bessie Jean Harrison and Suzette Holmes, and two sons, Robert Lee Holmes and Alvin Holmes.
He was the last survivor of his siblings.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Jeannette Holmes of the home, six sons William (Eleanor) Holmes Jr. of Greenwood, Anthony Holmes of the home (Quanzetta), Terry (Sherletha) Holmes of Johnston, SC, Otis Williams of Augusta, GA, Rufus Williams and Eugene Williams both of Edgefield, SC; six daughters Lillie (Robert) Belcher of Greenwood, SC, Willie Bell Butler of Greenwood, SC, Barbara Hall of Columbia SC, Janice (Jerry) Reese of Florida., Dorothy Holmes of Greenwood, SC, and Angela ( Troy) Donato of Slidell, LA; 42 grandchildren, 80 great- grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Liberty Springs Baptist Church, 1347 Walker Road, Edgefield, SC, 29824, with Rev. R.C. Oglesby officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers and Flower bearers will be friends and family.
Mr. Holmes will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m.
