Susanne McKellar Heyward, 94, resident of Wesley Commons, widow of Ed Heyward, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Hospice House.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin "Ben" and Katherine Edmond McKellar. She was a member of the McKissick Club, the Azalea Garden Club and First Presbyterian Church. She received an honorary life membership from the Women of the Presbyterian Church USA.
Surviving are her children, Susanne Key and her husband, Jim, of Chapel Hill, NC, Happy Adams and her husband, John, of Cartersville, GA, Jim Heyward and his wife, Margaret, of Newport Coast, CA, and Elaine Barnette and the late Bill Barnette of Greenwood; a sister, Daughty Lawrence Granade of Wesley Commons; sister-in-law, Susannah McKellar of Greenwood; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bill Barnette; sisters, Adrienne Beaudrot, Imojean Lawrence and Katherine Temple Resch; and her brother, Donald McKellar.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Magnolia Cemetery, with the Rev. Carol Peppers Wray officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, it is respectfully requested that memorials be made to Hospice House, HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
