Samuel Earl Farmer, 84, of 114 Barkwood Lane, husband of Virginia Ann Barber Farmer, died Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Hospice House.
Born in Ninety Six, he was a son of the late William Haskell Farmer and Leslie Land Farmer. Samuel served in the United States Marines Corp where he served in Korean War. He fought in the Choson Reservoir, was a member of the “Frozen Choson” and a Purple Heart recipient. Samuel was a go getter and loved gardening. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
He was twice married first to the late Annie Ruth Taylor from Cedar Town, GA, and preceded in death by a son, Samuel Edward Farmer; a daughter, Tammy Marie Price; two sisters, Ruth Britt and Alfreda Crockett; and a brother, Bruce Farmer.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two sons, William Haskell Farmer and his wife, Cindy of Greenville and Johnny Ray Farmer and his wife Susan, of North Augusta; four daughters, Hazel Farmer New, Shirley Elaine Clark and her husband, Clark, all of Ninety Six, Bridgette Davenport and her husband, Michael, of Mullins and Tracy Michelle Reynolds and her husband, Del, of Greenwood; a sister, Margaret Johnson of Greenwood; a brother, Don Farmer of Greenwood; eighteen grandchildren; and seventeen great- grandchildren.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Sprouse, Rev. Ray Farmer and Rev. Brandon Farmer officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Honorary escort will be the early morning staff at Charlie B’s along with Charlene & Chuck Bailey.
The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
