Robert Cockrell Sr.

Robert James Cockrell Sr., 81, of 108 Morgan Avenue, husband of Carrie Rodgers Cockrell, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late O. A. and Mattie Belle Parkman Cockrell. Robert was a U. S. Navy veteran having served during the Korean War. He retired from Greenwood Mills-Mathews Plant after 45 years of service and was also a member of the Quarter Century Club. Robert was a member of Mathews United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two daughters, Judy Ann Bannister (Danny) and Bobbie Jean Fuller (Bob), both of Greenwood; a son, Robert James "Jimmy" Cockrell, Jr. of the home; three sisters, Runette Frazee of Lexington, Sybil Cockrell (Lemar) of Saluda and Joyce Dennis of Laurens; five grandchildren, Lynn Allen (Robby), Tracie Williamson (Robert), Brooks Fuller (Heather), Krystal Cockrell and Kimberly Cockrell (Justin Oswald); eight great-grandchildren, Justin Williamson, Bella Williamson, Keri Allen, Daniel Allen, Peyton Oswald, Cameron Oswald, Bailey Fuller and Bobby Butler; and two great-great grandchildren, Ava Williamson and Avery Stone.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. J. William Harris officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Justin Williamson, Bobby Butler, Mark Terry, Bert Cockrell, Robby Allen, Neal Cockrell and Robert Williamson.
Honorary escorts will be Robert and Carrie's nephews along with Gerald Hutchinson, Austin Hutchinson, Toyna Hutchinson and Sam Hutchinson.
The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
