Odevene C. Samuel, 88, of 938 Taggart Avenue Ext., widow of Habert Samuel, entered into eternal rest Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Self Regional Medical Center.  
Born in Elberton, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Bennie Cade and the late Louvenia Huff. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Gospel Choir and was a Deaconess. She was also a member of the Women's Aide Society, the Order of the Eastern Star No. 337 and the Taggart & Russell Street Community Club.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Bennie L. Samuel and Bobby Neal Samuel and one daughter, Sarah Willis Samuel.
She leaves to cherish her memories four sons, Hoyt (Abby) Samuel of Cleveland, Ohio, John W. (Rev. Carrie) Samuel of Greenwood, L.G. (Mary) Samuel of Waterloo and Jerry (Sara) Samuel of Mauldin; one daughter, Mary S. (Johnnie) Morton of the Promised Land Community; two sisters, Ellen (Willie) Norman and I.D. Rice, both of Elberton, GA; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; great-great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Ulysses Parks. The body will be placed in the church at 12 Noon.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
