Joan Dell-hanetta Fulton
Saturday, December 14, 2013 11:43 PM
KIRKLAND, Wash. — Joan Dell-hanetta Fulton peacefully passed away unexpectedly on October 21, 2013, in her cherished home located in Kirkland, Washington; she was 75.
Joan was the youngest of six children of the late M.C. (Emsey) Boozer and Lula Solomon; she was born in Greenwood, South Carolina on June 22, 1938.
She was married to Robert Henry Fulton. From this marriage came her only children - Vaunda D. Fulton of Kirkland, Washington; Quanda R. Evans of Bellevue; and Robert H. Fulton, II of Bothell, Washington. She is survived by four grandchildren - Christopher Evans, Alexander Evans, Grace Fulton, and Ivy Fulton and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her two sisters, Maltiee and Bernice both from Philadelphia, PA and three brothers, James Carroll, Dick and Junior (Emsey) all from Greenwood, South Carolina.
Joan graduated from Brewer High School in Greenwood, South Carolina in 1955. She attended Morgan State University located in Baltimore, MD for a short while until she married and followed her husband out to the great Northwest to start their life together. After raising her family Joan obtained her Associates Degree in Accounting from Bellevue Community College and went on the work in the property management field at N.O.I and later at Weidner Investment Group. She was member of the Certified Public Notary Society and a licensed real estate agent.
In her early years, Joan enjoyed being involved in her children's school and after school activities, such as Girl Scouts, football, baseball, basketball, track and Indian Guides, hosting parties and playing bridge. Later on in life, she liked to work in her garden, cook big family dinners, still play bridge when she could, watch old movies and stay connected with family and friends. Her love for gardening stemmed from her association with her local garden club. However, what gave her the greatest pleasure in life was hearing about what her grandchildren and children were doing and spending time with them as often as she could.
A private graveside memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Kirkland City Cemetery. At 4:15 p.m., following the service there will be a celebration of life gathering for family and friends at Anthony's Homeport Restaurant located at 135 Lake Street South Kirkland, WA 98033.
Remembrances can be sent to Quanda Evans, at 13800 SE 43rd St. Bellevue, WA 98006.
Friends and family are invited to share memories and sign the family's on-line guest book at www.flintofts.com.
