Hubert Herbert Fisher, 70, of 115 Empire Circle, husband of Jade D. Fisher, transitioned from this walk of life on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Edgefield, he was the son of Herbert Lanier and Martha Fisher. Hubert retired from Greenwood School District No. 50 as an administrator; was a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc.; and also served on the board of directors for the Greenwood Municipal Credit Union, Board of Visitors for Piedmont Technical College, Board of Directors for The Salvation Army, Greenwood Food Bank, South Carolina Association of Adult Education, South Carolina Association of School Administration and Retired Director of Greenwood County Adult Education. He was a member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine McDuffie and Jacqueline L. Murcier Syrkett.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Jade of the home; two sons, Hubert Herbert “Burt” (Andrea) Fisher II of Washington, D.C., and Arnold “Arnie” Dantzler Fisher of Greenwood; two daughters, Lesa Weston of Atlanta, Ga., and Ashlei Fisher of Greenwood; fifteen brothers and sisters, Sylvia L. (Robert) Bell, McCormick, S.C., Calvin (Catherine) Lanier, Troy, Dr. Diana L. (Anthony) Smith, Parrish, Fla., Willie T. Lanier, Troy, Jeffery (Janeen) Lanier, College Park, Ga., Valerie Gale L. (Anthony) Armstrong, Stockbridge, Ga., Dennis (Tabatha) Lanier, Lithonia, Ga., Ericson (Glenene) Lanier, Stone Mountain, Ga., Cassandra L. (Wallace) Whitfield, Southfield, Mich., Margaret Thomas of Greenwood, Brenda Christia, Greenwood, Julia (Johnny) Moore, Abbeville, Lolita Randolph, Greensboro, N.C., Albert (Charlene) Morton, Aiken, S.C., and Clarence Morton, Greer, S.C.; six grandchildren, one reared in the home, Adyn Amir Keller; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to cherish his memory.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Morris Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Danny R. Webb. Presiding will be Bishop Oliver T. McCray, Jr. The body will be placed in the church at 12 Noon. Entombment will follow in The Evening Star Cemetery.
