Garfield Drennon
Mr. Garfield Drennon, 70, of 127 North Hospital Street, died on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at his home. Born on February 29, 1942 in McCormick County, he was the son of the late Wardlaw Drennon, Sr. and the late Willie Cade Drennon. He was a retired construction worker and former member of Mount Zion A.M.E. Church in McCormick. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Wardlaw "Bone" Drennon, Jr., Jackie Ray "Ned" Drennon, David Drennon, Sammy Lomax and Thomas Lomax.
He leaves to cherish his memories, six sisters, Mary Drennon White, Betty Drennon Rogers, Sandra Drennon Higgins and Ruth Ellen Drennon Marine, all of Greenwood and Susie (James) Cannady and Lula (Willie) Devaux, both of Abbeville; six brothers, Lewis Drennon, Ernest Drennon, Daniel (Anita) Drennon, James Drennon and Eddie (Brenda) Drennon, all of Greenwood and Johnny Lomax of Abbeville; a devoted sister-in-law and caregiver, Gwendolyn Drennon of Greenwood; and a host of nephew, nieces, other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Services are 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in McCormick, conducted by Pastor Willie P. Black. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home of a sister, Sandra Drennon Higgins, 307 Plowden Avenue.
