Edwina Hardee Lumley, 76, resident of 201 Old Puckett’s Ferry Road, wife of Thomas Lumley, died April 9, 2014 at her home.
Born October 12, 1937, in Loris, SC, she was a daughter of the late Bert and Carrie Johnson Hardee. She was a graduate of Loris High School and Limestone College. She was the girls’ basketball coach at Mullins High School after graduation and led them to a state championship. She later taught physical education at Greenwood High School and served as the cheerleader sponsor. Mrs. Lumley finished her working career as an admissions testing consultant at Piedmont Technical College.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are a daughter, Laura (Bill) Rude of Greenwood; two grandsons, Thomas Rude and Tyler Rude, both of Greenwood; a nephew, Ken (Torie) Hardee of Atlanta; a great-nephew, Seth Hardee of Atlanta; and a number of Lumley nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Laura Anderson and a brother, Robert Hardee, both of Loris.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Tony Hopkins and Rev. Dr. J. William Harris officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Highway 246 South in Coronaca.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, John Lumley, Leland Lumley, Bob Burch, Barron Burch, Bill Burch and Ken Hardee.
The family is at the home and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 Thursday evening.
