Edna Steifle McDaniel, 92, formerly of Greenwood, widow of James L. McDaniel, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Lexington Medical Center.
Born in Bradley, November 28, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Belle Riley Steifle. She attended Lander College and was a graduate of Greenwood College of Commerce. Mrs. McDaniel was secretary to the first city manager of Greenwood. She retired from the City of Greenwood as City Clerk and Treasurer after forty-four years of service.
A member of Greenwood First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, Mrs. McDaniel was a member of the United Bible Class and the women of the church.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ivey Steifle Wardlaw and Alice Steifle Wardlaw; and a brother, Jesse Oza Steifle.
Surviving are a daughter, Betty Rose Forsberg and husband Charlie of Chapin, SC; and three grandchildren, Jeffrey Forsberg of Birmingham, AL, Jason Forsberg of Irmo, SC, and Jessica Sanyi and husband Jim of Charleston, SC.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, with Reverend Brian Bult officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday immediately following the service at the graveside.

The family would especially like to thank the caring staff of Harbison Hall Assisted Living in Columbia, SC, where Mrs. McDaniel was a resident for the last year.
